Saffron Cardamom Peach

As you may have guessed, I really do not have time for this blog these days. But, I do want to let you know about all the yummy stuff that is making it onto the store shelves.

Saffron Cardamom Peach Conserve is here! As is Saffron Cardamom Peach Sauce.

Saffron is the world’s #1 most expensive spice and is harvested from the crocus. Cardamom is the world’s #3 most expensive spice. Both have warming qualities and are traditional paired together in Indian sweets.

The conserve has a wonderful texture, smooth with small bits of peach for variety. It has a honey-like flavor from the saffron, is full of cardamom and has a bright yellow color typical of saffron.

I will also be making another Saffron Cardamom Peach Conserve which will be more similar to last year’s batch of jam, but with less sugar and a higher concentration of fruit. The only difference between the two conserves will be texture–one will be smooth (the one already made) and one will contain large peach pieces (like the Sauce). The flavor is the same and which one you choose will depend on what kind of experience you would like in your mouth. I prefer the smooth, personally, but I know at least two men who were eating last year’s jam with a spoon straight out of the jar (both were driving cars at the time). So basically, got to keep the men happy!

The Saffron Cardamom Peach Sauce is a real decadent treat. If you want to spoil yourself, here’s what you can do it with. Pair it with something simple, like vanilla ice cream or shortbread with freshly whipped cream. You will enjoy the sauce most with a simple background of flavor.
