Corn Flakes

Food prices are rising, farmers are struggling and corn is the addictive drug this country can’t get enough hits of.  Just when it seemed possible that the big government which subsidizes the big farms might begin to see the sustainable light at the end of the corn row, The New York Times publishes an article reporting that the Ag Dept. may release 34 million acres of natural reserves for farmers to plant more….

Yup. Corn.
Due to corn demands for animal feed and ethanol mandates, compounded with  the devastating midwestern floods, someone high up decided we need more corn.  Why diversify in the face of disaster?  Let’s just put all our corn in one basket, or in this case, federally reserved natural habitat, and further our dependence on domestic corn like we’ve done with foreign oil.
